Troisième album publié peu de temps après l’installation par l’URSS de missiles SS 20 visant l’Europe. A la même époque, un boeing de la Korean airline transportant 269 passagers civils était abattu par la chasse soviétique. D’où le titre de cet album et le thème de la chanson Ni rouge, ni mort en opposition au slogan des pacifistes "plutôt rouge que mort". Avec La manif’, Jean-Pax Méfret dresse un tableau des déçus du socialisme. Déçue, également, l’ex- "soixante-huitarde" de L’Ile St Louis. Brimée ; la jeune cubaine de Miss America qui rêve de liberté. Et détruite, la toxicomane de Flash. Jean-Pax évoque, aussi, avec Le béret amarante l’attentat meurtrier du Drakkar, le 23 octobre 1983, contre les parachutistes français à Beyrouth. Dans Djebel amour, il chante le vécu des soldats de la guerre d’Algérie, et raconte une histoire de mercenaires dans Parole d’homme. Enfin, Jean-Pax Méfret célèbre la Libération de la France avec Jour J, une chanson sur la grande journée du 6 juin 1944, et il livre sa version du jugement dernier dans Le Messager où se profile l’image du Pape Jean-Paul II.
